New Delhi: While the successful launch of India’s third lunar mission Chandrayaan 3 has earned accolades from across the world, it appears that the success of ISRO’s ambitious space program has been a tough one for neighboring Pakistani leaders to digest. A video of former Pakistan Science and Technology Minister Fawad Chaudhry mocking India’s third lunar mission has gone viral on social media.
However, Zee Media cannot independently verify the authenticity of this video which was shared by Twitter user Radhika Chowdhary.

Interestingly, while Fawad Chaudhary was quick to congratulate India and the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) on the successful launch of Chandrayaan-3, the viral video shows him mocking the Chandrayaan-3 mission.
In the viral video, Fawad Chaudhary can be seen answering questions about the moon sighting in the context of the latest space mission undertaken by ISRO. “Itne papad belne ki hota nahi hai,” says the former Pakistani minister (“You don’t have to go that far to see the moon)”. He further adds, “Since the Moon is clearly visible from Earth, there is no need to waste a lot of money in researching about it.”
Chowdhary reportedly made the remarks during a TV debate on ARY news channel. However, this is not the first time that Chowdhary has mocked India. In a series of tweets, which have now been deleted, he made a sarcastic comment on the failure of the Chandrayaan-2 mission.
Fawad tweeted in 2019, “Dear Andiya; Instead of wasting money on crazy missions like Chandrayaan, focus on the poverty within, your approach to #KashmirII will be another Chandrayaan, only the price will be huge.”
Chowdhury’s latest comments on Chandrayaan 3 coincide with a prominent British politician making a controversial statement in his sarcastic congratulatory message. British politician Paul Golding wrote on Twitter, “Congratulations, India, on the success of your space programme. And shame on UK politicians who keep giving millions of pounds of ‘foreign aid’ to India unnecessarily.
Through her cryptic tweet, Golding reminded India of “millions of pounds of UK aid”, however, she was mercilessly trolled by Indian Twitter users for her unique congratulatory tweet.
India’s third lunar mission Chandrayaan 3 was successfully launched on 14 July from the Satish Dhawan Space Center in Sriharikota, Andhra Pradesh. The mission aims to soft-land on the uncharted south pole of the Moon on August 23, 2023.
The Chandrayaan-1 mission was successfully launched in October 2008, while Chandrayaan-2 was envisioned as a more complex mission as it would consist of an orbiter, lander (Vikram) and a rover to explore the uncharted south pole of the Moon. (Pragyan) was taken. However, the mission ended abruptly as the scientists lost contact with the lander before it could make a soft landing on the lunar surface.
