Stability AI, the developer of Stable Diffusion, has launched a new generative AI that can turn simple sketches into high-definition images.
It is aptly called Stable Doodle and is quite user-friendly. According to the announcement, “anyone with basic drawing skills” can try the technique for free right now on Stability AI’s Clipdrop website.
The way it works is that you start drawing something on the drawing board with the pencil tool. Next, enter a hint in the text box below to tell Stable Doodle what you’ve created. AI needs some direction. You can even instruct it to emulate particular styles or famous painters like Vincent Van Gogh. If you’re confused, select “No Style” at the bottom of the board and you’ll be given 14 different art forms to emulate, from origami to anime.
Click “Generate” when you’re ready, wait a few seconds, and then three images will appear in a grid alongside the original sketch. You can download the content in High Definition or restart the AI. Of course, there’s an eraser tool in case you make a mistake or just want to clean up the board.
To give you some examples, below is a collection of images we made with Stable Doodle, with a hint from the sketch we made as well.
boundaries
As fun as it is, it does have its limits. Firstly, anonymous users can only create three sketches at a time before the Stability AI will ask you to wait 21 hours. You can wait until full or sign up for a free account to regain access. After signing up, it appears the limit has been removed as we were able to create more than three pieces of art without issue. Note that the website does not save sketches or generated content, so be sure to download them.
The second limitation is that “the quality of the final output is dependent on the initial drawing and detailing”. You don’t have to be a master artist, though, as clear sketches improve your chances of getting clear artwork. If you compare our generated content and sustainability AI, the latter is much cleaner. Errors are less. But it’s okay if you’re not a great artist, like other reports Point to the fact that the AI relies more on text prompts than on what you draw.
availability
The work is not over yet as AI has plans to expand. A company spokesperson told TechCrunch that Stable Doodle will one day allow users to upload their own sketches as well as present “use cases for specific verticals (such as) real estate applications.” In the disclosure, Stability AI says it envisions “freeing up valuable time” to tech help professionals by creating “(content) for presentation decks” or key assets like business logos.
It’s unknown when this update will be released, although we asked.
As mentioned earlier, you can try out Stable Doodle by visiting Clipdrop or by downloading the official Clipdrop app. google play store And apple app store,
