Heavy rains lashed some areas in the national capital on Sunday evening, while the water level in the Yamuna river dropped to 205.52 metres. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast a generally cloudy sky with light rain and thundershowers in Delhi on Monday. Here are the key points with respect to the recent weather conditions:
1. Flood concerns: Some parts of Delhi have been affected by floods as Yamuna river has breached its banks due to heavy rains in the upper catchment areas. This led to the evacuation of a large number of residents from low-lying areas.
2. Yamuna river level: The Yamuna river, which has been in spate for the last one week, reached a height of 207.71 meters on Wednesday. It beat the previous record of 207.49m set in 1978. By Friday night, the water level had come down to 207.98 metres, which is still above the danger mark of 205.33 metres.

3. Rainfall figures: The IMD recorded 13.2 mm of rain in the last 24 hours till 8:30 am.
4. Weather forecast: Generally cloudy sky, light rain and thundershowers are expected on Monday. The maximum and minimum temperatures are expected to be around 35 and 27 degrees Celsius, respectively.
5. Humidity levels: According to the Meteorological Department (MeT), the relative humidity ranged between 67% and 98%.
6. Government action: Delhi PWD minister Atishi inspected the flood-affected areas and directed officials to speed up drainage and road cleaning in parts of the Ring Road. He stressed on the importance of ensuring smooth traffic flow and providing relief to the people of Delhi.
7. Water-logging concern: During the inspection, Atishi observed water-logging and sludge accumulation in various areas on Ring Road like Chandgiram Akhara, Math Bazar, Nigambodh Ghat, Hanuman Mandir, Shantivan, Raj Ghat, ITO and Secretariat Road.
8. Prompt action: Atishi urged the officials to work round-the-clock to remove flood water from Ring Road, an important thoroughfare for daily vehicular traffic in central Delhi. He stressed the importance of expediting drainage and road cleaning efforts to restore normalcy at the earliest.
9. Pump deployment: Additional pumps were deployed to expedite drainage at Nigambodh Ghat and behind Red Fort, where flood water had accumulated.
10. Restoration efforts: Atishi expressed satisfaction over the receding water level of Yamuna river and stressed on the need to remove debris and obstructions from the affected roads. The Public Works Department is actively addressing the flood related challenges by setting up pumping stations and deploying necessary machinery to address the situation.
