Former India all-rounder-turned-commentator Irfan Pathan has accused Kiran More of being negligent in selecting the coach for the Baroda senior team just because the coach did not greet him with a “hello”. In an email sent to the office-bearers of the Baroda Cricket Association (BCA) recently, Pathan expressed deep displeasure over the actions and statements made by former India wicket-keeper More, reports The Indian Express.
During a meeting of the Baroda Cricket Association Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC), headed by More and with Pathan as a member, the committee gathered to appoint a new coach for the Baroda team. Pathan had pitched for the appointment of a local coach for the upcoming season and proposed the name of former Baroda player Connor Williams for the head coach position. However, the CAC did not agree to Pathan’s suggestion.

Pathan wrote a long letter to draw attention to a matter of major concern that came up during the CAC meeting. He expressed his dismay over an incident involving a Baroda Cricket member, which he believed was contributing to the downfall of his prestigious institution. Criticizing More’s actions and statements, Pathan said that he was deeply troubled by it.
“I am writing to bring to your attention a matter of great concern that came to the fore during today’s CAC meeting. It is with great dismay that I have come across a particular incident involving a member of Baroda Cricket which is contributing to the downfall of our prestigious institution. The actions and statements made by Kiran More during the meeting have deeply disturbed me,” Pathan wrote in a long letter.
It further read, “More’s claim that he will block Connor Williams from joining the Baroda Ranji team’s coaching setup just because of his alleged lack of greetings (“He doesn’t say hello to me”) is, in my opinion, a Is. Absurd and petty justification. This type of behavior is unbecoming of a senior person like More, and reflects poorly on our values as an organization.
Pathan urged the association to rise above petty issues and give priority to the betterment of Baroda cricket. He highlighted Williams’ credentials as a Ranji Trophy champion and his decade-long dedication to representing Baroda cricket. Pathan emphasized that it is only fair to acknowledge and honor Williams’ contribution. Emphasizing the importance of this fundamental principle, he reminded everyone that the institution is bigger than any individual.
Pathan appealed to the decision makers of Baroda Cricket to immediately intervene and resolve the issue. He stressed the need to foster an environment of professionalism, respect and fairness within the organization. Pathan concluded by urging everyone not to let personal grievances and minor disagreements hinder the progress and unity of Baroda Cricket, noting that these incidents took place in the presence of the Baroda Cricket CEO.
