According to The Times of Israel, A young boy named Sulaiman Hassan experienced a serious medical condition known as “internal collapse” after a car accident. This condition, scientifically known as bilateral atlanto-occipital joint dislocation, resulted in separation of his skull from the top vertebrae of his spine.
According to Dr. Ohad Inav, the orthopedic surgeon in charge of the treatment, it took several hours and required the insertion of “new plates and fixations to the affected area”.
Dr. Inav told the Times of Israel that his ability to save the child was due to his expertise and the advanced technology available in the operating room.
He emphasized that the surgical team fought vehemently for the boy’s life. Furthermore, surgeons consider the boy’s recovery to be nothing short of a miracle, as his chances of survival were only 50 percent.
