Team India cricketers enjoy the first day of the first Test against West Indies in Roseau, Dominica on Wednesday. Even after losing the toss, India bowled out the visitors for just 150, with Ravichandran Ashwin taking 5/60 and Ravindra Jadeja 3/26.
In reply, India opener Rohit Sharma and debutant Yashasvi Jaiswal put on 80 without loss at stumps on the opening day, Rohit playing on 30 and Jaiswal on 40. Shubman Gill, who opened the batting with Rohit in the four Tests against Australia as well as the World Test Championship (WTC) final against the same opponents last month, has slipped to the No.3 spot with Jaiswal’s inclusion in the squad.
On Wednesday, a video of Gill dancing while fielding at short leg went viral on social media. The Gujarat Titans opener, who won the IPL 2023 Orange Cap, seems to be enjoying the first day of his maiden Test in the Caribbean.

Earlier, Gill revealed why he agreed to bat at the No.3 position in this Test series. Gill told Geo Cinema ahead of the opening Test between India and West Indies, “They (team management) asked me where I want to bat and I said I want No.3. It is a position where I want to be strong. want.”
Gill said that the experience of opening for India will come in handy at number three. “It is always good to play with the new ball. I have the experience of the new ball and when you bat at No.3, it is not very different, although there is a slight difference,” he said.
Asked if he has already started feeling like a senior player, he said: “Not really. The roles are different. Definitely doesn’t feel like it.”
After a break of almost a month after losing the WTC final to Australia, Gill is going into this match like the rest of Team India cricketers. “I really enjoyed the one month break, spent time with my family. This is my first time in Barbados, also my first time in Dominica. We came here a long time ago, trained well.
