Isabella Merced, Eddie Gathegi and Nathan Fillion are set to play the iconic superheroes from the comics.
The upcoming film, Superman Legacy, which is set to revive the DC Universe in live-action, has enlisted the talents of three additional actors to portray the iconic superhero from the comics. Hawkgirl will be played by Isabella Merced, Mister Terrific will be played by Eddie Gathegi, and Nathan Fillion will play Green Lantern, though not necessarily the one typically associated with the character.

The 2025 film, which is written and directed by James Gunn, has already cast David Korenshwaite as Clark Kent and The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel star Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane. The film will begin filming in January 2024 and will set the foundation for the new DCU that James Gunn is creating in partnership with DC Studios President and CEO Peter Safran.
It was recently reported that Isabella Merced, best known for her roles in Sicario: Day of the Soldado and Dora and the Lost City of Gold, has been announced as the newest cast member at DC Studios. She will play Hawkgirl, a winged warrior in the new universe. Hawkgirl’s preferred weapons are melee weapons such as swords, spears, and maces. Merced’s 5-foot-1 height will set her apart from typical comic book fighters.

Nathan Fillion, who was previously seen in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, James will once again join Gunn as a Green Lantern named Guy Gardner in Superman Legacy and will be seen wearing the iconic bowl cut from the comics.
Scheduled for release on July 11, 2025, Superman: Legacy was unveiled earlier this year by Gunn and Safran as part of the initial phase of a revised slate. It is positioned as the flagship project to launch their new strategy.
