Craig Young took three wickets and Paul Stirling, skipper Andy Balbirnie shone with the bat as Ireland thrashed USA by six wickets in the seventh-place play-off match in the ICC Cricket World Cup Qualifier on Friday.
Batting first, USA scored 196 runs in 42.4 overs. Team USA was dismissed before reaching the 200-run mark. USA batsman Sushant Modani scored 55 runs in 93 balls hitting four fours. Saiteja Mukkamalla scored 55 runs in 46 balls with five fours and one maximum. After losing the opening two wickets, an 88-run partnership between Mukkamalla and Modani stabilized their innings.
From 151/5, USA were reduced to 168/9 and were eventually bowled out for 196.

Craig Young of Ireland was adjudged player of the match for his amazing bowling. He took three wickets for 35 runs in just seven overs. Andy McBrine of Ireland took two and Mark Adair took two wickets.
Ireland batted brilliantly in the second innings and achieved the target in just 34.2 overs. He scored 197 runs at the loss of four wickets. Ireland looked determined to chase down the target and began scoring runs at a brisk pace, led by Paul Stirling. He completed his half-century and the opening partnership crossed 75 runs.
Ireland were moving ahead comfortably even after the wickets of Andy McBrine (35) and Sterling.
Paul Stirling of Ireland hit a half-century. He scored 58 runs in 45 balls hitting nine fours and two sixes. Ireland captain Andrew Balbirnie scored 45 runs in 28 balls with five fours.
USA’s bowling attack could have been stronger as their bowlers conceded a lot of runs. Nosthush Kenjige took two wickets but conceded only 41 runs in seven overs.
USA’s Nisarga Ketankuma Patel took an Irish wicket and conceded 20 runs in six overs. Abhishek Paradkar also took an Irish wicket but conceded 28 runs in three overs. Ireland decided to field first against the United States in the play-off semi-final for seventh place. Both the teams will not come to India for the World Cup this year.
