India is returning to Malahide in August this year to play Ireland in a three-match Twenty20 cricket series. India, the world’s top-ranked men’s T20 team, will take on Ireland on August 18, 20 and 23.
“We are delighted to welcome India to Ireland for the second time in 12 months,” Cricket Ireland chief executive Warren Deutrom said on Tuesday. This year the series should give even more fans the opportunity to enjoy what is always an occasion to remember.”
India beat hosts Ireland 2-0 in the two-match Twenty20 series last year. India, which will tour the West Indies next month that will comprise three Tests and five T20 Internationals, is set to host the 50-over World Cup starting October 5.
“Our heartfelt thanks to the BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India), firstly, for consistently including Ireland in the Indian team’s busy schedule as well as working with us to ensure a fan-friendly schedule – organizing matches ” It is expected that the availability of fans will be maximum on Friday and Sunday,” he concluded.
Ireland recently had a disappointing campaign in the ICC ODI Cricket World Cup 2023 Qualifier in Zimbabwe. They failed to qualify for the ODI World Cup 2023 to be held in India after losing 3 out of 4 group matches in the qualifier tournament.
However, Ireland ended their campaign in the CWC 2023 qualifiers with a win over UAE. Ireland secured their first win of the tournament with a 138-run victory against the United Arab Emirates, with a blistering 162 from Paul Stirling.
