New Delhi: Discom company BSES has issued an advisory urging people to stay away from power installations and avoid power theft and water-logging in the area. The BSES advisory came after Sakshi Ahuja, a 34-year-old teacher, died of electrocution after she came in contact with a live electric wire in New Delhi railway station premises amid rains on Sunday morning.

A statement issued by the BSES said, “If anyone has noticed any fallen cable, pole or exposed wire, they can call 19123 (South and West Delhi) and 19122 (East and Central Delhi) and inform the concerned authorities.” can do. “Caution children to play near electrical installations, even if they are barricaded, and in parks where water is standing.”

The advisory further states, “In case of water-logging or leakage in the meter cabin, switch off the main switch. Switch on the main switch only after ensuring that all faults are properly rectified. Earth leakage circuit breaker ( ELCB) install.” Avoid shaking and accidents.”

Teacher dies of electrocution at New Delhi railway station

Sakshi Ahuja, a 34-year-old woman, died of electrocution after she accidentally came in contact with an electric wire in the New Delhi Railway Station premises amid rain on Sunday morning. The incident has prompted the concerned authorities to conduct a safety audit of all electric poles and electrical infrastructure to prevent any such incident in future.

The incident took place near exit gate number 1 of the station when the victim, Sakshi Ahuja, along with her family was on her way to catch a train to Chandigarh, they said. She was accompanied by her father, mother, brother, sister and two children at the time of the incident. Police said Ahuja, who lives with her family in Preet Vihar, was a teacher at Lovely Public School, Priyadarshini Vihar, Laxmi Nagar.

A senior police officer said that according to preliminary investigation, it was raining and Ahuja was walking towards the station when she lost her balance and grabbed the electric pole, due to which she came in contact with the live wires at the spot. . Said.

A police team led by assistant sub-inspector Gaikwad reached the spot and took Ahuja to Lady Hardinge Medical College Hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Railways) Apoorva Gupta said.

Complaint filed alleging negligence

Ahuja’s sister Madhavi Chopra has filed a complaint alleging negligence on the part of the officials, he said. A case has been registered against unknown persons under sections 287 (negligent conduct with respect to machinery) and 304A (causing death by negligence) of the Indian Penal Code and investigation has been initiated, Gupta said.

“We have spoken to Indian Railways officials, who are probing the matter at their level to see who is responsible for the negligence,” he added. “Experts from the crime team and forensic science laboratory, Rohini have inspected the spot,” the DCP said. According to the victim’s family, Ahuja along with her siblings, parents and children was traveling by Vande Bharat Express to Chandigarh to attend a function.

The family alleged that he had to hold the pole as the roads were waterlogged and slippery due to the rains. She fell down after being electrocuted by an open pole on a waterlogged road. Sakshi’s father Lokesh Chopra, a resident of Model Town, said he got out of the car near Gate No. 1 and was proceeding towards the station, when suddenly he heard Madhavi’s scream to help Sakshi.

He said, “When I saw Sakshi lying on the road, I was completely shaken and fainted… There was no one to help us… Children were crying.” The victim’s father blamed the officers for their negligence, which cost his daughter’s life.

“We were not walking on any narrow or shady road. It was the main road outside Gate No. 1 of New Delhi Railway Station and the pole was there at the junction. There are at least half a dozen open wires, yet no one to the authorities took necessary steps to fix these electric wires. Also the roads were flooded,” he said.

The victim’s family said that they were all happy as they were going to attend a function but never thought that something so unfortunate and tragic could happen. The family alleged that the incident took place just outside the railway station but no one came to their aid as they too feared electrocution.

A family member said, “We used wooden sticks to save Sakshi, but still they could not save her. Even Madhavi was lightly injured while trying to save her sister. Shocked.” The children have been inconsolable since the incident. He saw his mother faint in front of him and could not understand what really happened to her,” he said.

The woman’s family said that her husband Ankit Ahuja, who works as an engineer in a Japanese firm, and two minor children, 10-year-old son Raghav and six-year-old daughter Ananya, are alive.
